Shopify's native B2B gave merchants companies, contracted price lists, and payment terms. What it never added is a way to run a sales team: reps who carry accounts, order on their behalf, and earn commission. The default workaround — a Shopify staff account per rep — exposes your whole admin and still has no concept of commissions or territories.
Reps should log into a portal that shows only their assigned accounts, not your admin. Passwordless login (a code or magic link) removes the "another password" friction, and a mobile, installable portal means it works at a trade show.
A rep picks an account and builds the order at that account's contracted B2B pricing, with quantity rules and payment terms applied by Shopify itself. The order is a real Shopify draft order — no parallel system to reconcile.
Assign accounts by territory (country, state, ZIP prefix, or company tag) so new companies land with the right rep automatically, balanced by workload — with manual assignments always winning.
Every paid order should generate commission from your rules — percentage, flat, tiered, or split — and reconcile itself through refunds and edits. We go deeper on that in how to pay commissions on Shopify wholesale orders.
RepHub adds this whole layer to Shopify B2B — rep portal, order-on-behalf, commissions, territories, and payouts — at flat pricing. See the RepHub listing.
Both platforms can run wholesale well — but they get there differently. Here's an honest comparison to help you pick the right base for your B2B store.
'Call for price' isn't old-fashioned — it's a lead-generation strategy. Here's how to hide prices and the Add to Cart button in WooCommerce and capture quote requests instead.
Giving a rep a Shopify staff account seems like the free option. Here's why it costs more than it looks — and what a purpose-built rep portal does instead.
